Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti(born November 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now One Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to get a flawless score of 10 during an Olympic competition. Comaneci was first discovered by Bela Karolyi later the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was only six years old. In 1969, she competed at the Romanian Junior Championships and finished 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, as part of an international meet of communist country juniors before the Olympics, she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974 she was named the overall junior champion. She won four gold and one silver medals in her debut competition as a senior and was held in the year 1975. It was the first time she participated as an adult. She was also the first female athlete to perform a reverse double salo on the bar with a parallel unevenness as part of her dismount. She was the winner in the American Cup, held in New York City. Her career began in the entertainment industry during her teenage years, when she appeared in an ice skating duo along with her cousin Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol began her career in the field of entertainment in her teens. In her early years, Carol began as a figure skater in the traveling show Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. They featured staged ice skating performances.
