Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej currently Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 for an Olympic sport. Bela Karalyi was introduced to Comaneci at the age of six. Comaneci would go on to become the gymnastics coach of Romania. Comaneci competed for the first time in the 1969 national junior championships, placing 13th. The following year she became champion. Her first competition in the international arena was in 1972, which was a pre Olympic junior competition for communist-bloc nations she took home three gold medals while in 1973 and 1974 she was the junior all-around champion. She won against Russian Lyudmila Torishcheva. The five-time European Champion at her first senior international competition held in the year 1975. In this event she took home four golds as well as a silver. In 1976 she became the first female performer to make the reverse double salo of the uneven parallel bar as part of her demount. She was the winner of the American Cup, held in New York City. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager, she began performing in traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater as well as her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol started her entertainment career when she was in her teens. When she was a young girl Carol started out as a figure skater in traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. These shows were ice skating and included staged performances.
