April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July. She began piano and guitar lessons from seven years old. Her interest in writing songs was ignited. When April was 12, she composed her first single Different. She spent lots of the time of 14 making songs and practicing music. Then, she began going across NY and LA together with her father in order for them both to write songs. April also added additional themes to the tune "Take My Hand" to help her the friends she had who struggled with issues such as peer pressurization issues, or even teenage suicide. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer who has a growing following. She collaborates with the renowned brand Ilia together, as well as being a lifestyle expert. Her birth was without a left hand. It's an aspect of her identity, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart acknowledges her handicap on her Instagram account, but she does not make it the main focus of the post. What's the message? We all have multiple aspects that our identities are complex and that we're much greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart, via video message from Nashville home, says I don't want that to be a part of myself. I am more than my physical self. It doesn't affect my life. All is well and I have learned to adapt. Because it's an integral part of me, it's something that's worth talking about. Lockhart has served as an excellent inspiration to her fellow women with regards to self-acceptance. Lockhart admits to having had periods where she was uncomfortable the way she dressed and showed her arms. Today, she wears anything she likes and uploads photos in those outfits to social media with pride. The journey itself is the most important thing. I'm not sure if you ever arrive she says about self-love. However, I believe that's the case for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety.
