Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in America. Ashford is an actor as well as a singer and dancer. In her early Broadway performances, she starred her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel won her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director has spent most of her professional career working with well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford's next project will be a limited edition Hulu series titled Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently working on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in March 2023 when he is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the nation's crisis, which swept across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment proceedings in over a century. For two seasons, she was a star of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. The actress has also been in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original role as Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Born and raised in Denver Ashford currently splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
